Erivan Feitosa - Boxe

I'm 24 years old. Born and raised in Morro da Providência, I am a boxing teacher and athlete, currently teaching about 100 children.

What motivated me most to teach at Casa Amarela was that I saw myself among these children. I was also one of them as a child. I grew up seeing and facing the same problems as them. In the midst of violence, drugs and bigotry, I was able to see another way through sport. That is what I want to show these children of Casa Amarela, that we in Morro da Providência have other paths to follow, that go far beyond the alleys and streets of the community.

Casa Amarela is an escape from the children who are part of this community, which has its daily urban violence as any slum in Rio de Janeiro has.”
